Model 236IA MSHA
Approved Photo Switch

The Pyott Boone Model 236IA Photo switch is a general
purpose, light controlled switch just like the
Model 236. However, the sensors are connected
through barriers to the PC board, thus allowing the sensors to be
installed in hazardous locations. The control panel must be installed in
fresh air.
The switch provides the ability to remotely control devices such as
automatic doors, track switches, feeder-breakers, water sprays, and many
others. The Photo Switch consists of a Control Unit and two Photo
Sensors. Each sensor has 50 feet of 16/2 cable and a housing extension
that is used to reject ambient light.
The Photo Sensors are used to detect the presence of light rays.
When light strikes either Sensor, a signal is sent to the Control Unit
that energizes a relay. The relay will remain energized until light
strikes either Sensor a second time or the Control Unit times out.
