The PBE Tracking Boss system utilizes the PBE MineBoss™ software package for displaying the location of miners and equipment. Presently the reafers transmit data to a Leaky Feeder communications system via VHF or UHF.  A in the LF rack is connected to the MineBoss computer.  Readers are placed throughout the mine depending on federal, state or company regulations to track all tags in the mine.  A “zone” configuration is usually accomplished by placing readers on all desired sides of a designated area in order to pick up tags as they enter the zone from either direction.  Each reader contains a backup battery capable of providing 96+ hours of operation in order to meet guidelines set forth by the West Virginia Office of Miner's Health Safety & Training and are engineered as Intrinsically Safe devices in order to pass MSHA testing.
